Shannon Slate named as director of ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä State University’s Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell Regional Campuses

MURRAY, Ky. – ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä State University is pleased to announce its new director of the Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell Regional Campuses, Shannon Slate.
Slate earned her bachelor's degree and master's degree from Western Kentucky University in 2016 and 2021, respectively. She is married to Davis Slate, and they have two children, Raelynn and Sadie.
In recent years, Slate has worked in secondary education as the gifted and talented enrichment specialist for Christian County Public Schools. She has created various programs to challenge high school students beyond their grade level, leading students to compete at the national level. Slate has also developed community partnerships to provide enriching experiences for students outside of school that align with their strengths.
Slate has been serving as the western Kentucky gifted and talented cadre leader for the Department of Education. In addition, she has taught advanced placement social studies courses and was awarded Kentucky's National History Day Patricia Behring Secondary Teacher of the Year for 2024.
As a resident of Hopkinsville since 2016, Slate has been a part of the educational fabric of the Hopkinsville and Christian County community for nearly a decade. Her leadership and professional experience will lend support to enrollment growth and educational opportunities for dual credit, transfer, military and non-traditional students throughout the service region.

Slate shared, “I am thrilled to step into the role of director at ÐÓ°ÉÖ±²¥¼ä State University's Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell Campuses, where I can combine my nine years of experience in public education with the exciting opportunities in dual credit and continuing education. I’m passionate about helping students advance their education while empowering the community to grow and thrive through accessible learning pathways. With this new role, I look forward to creating impactful opportunities that foster academic success and lifelong learning for all and provide a valuable talent pipeline for the professional community of Hopkinsville."
